Tuesday Mommy got a last minute call that there had been a cancellation at the diabetes doctor's office and that if she could come for an 11:00 appointment they would get her in. It had been a week since the other doctor referred her over so she was afraid that if she didn't take it she wouldn't be getting in there anytime soon. So she talked to her boss and made a mad dash out of work to make the appointment on time.
When she finally got in to talk to the doctor, they spent quite sometime getting a thorough medical history and a full physical examination. The new doctor was very nice, which Mommy appreciated because the last time she was at this office, the other doctor was very rude.
In the end, Mommy left with a ton of information and a new little friend--her Humalog insulin injection kit. She now has to shoot up with insulin at lunch and supper to help control her sugars. It's not as bad as she thought it would be, but silly Nana can't watch it and shudders at the thought. It's kind of funny. Mommy is required to fax/call in her blood sugar readings twice a week, and she will have to go into the office every two weeks for close monitoring. Lots of doctor's appointments coming up, but luckily this office is willing to try their hardest to make her appointments coordinate with the appointments at the other doctor's office so Mommy doesn't have to take as much time off work.
