14 weeks down, 26 to go. Mommy is really starting to be noticeably pregnant--much quicker than she did with my big sister. She is starting to feel much better though. No more nausea, and a little more energy. She is starting to feel the aches and pains of pregnancy now. Her back is a little sore, and her tummy muscles feel like the tug every time she gets up from sitting. All normal stuff caused by a nice little hormone called relaxin that is getting everything primed to stretch really far.
I now have my own, unique fingerprints. The coolest thing about that is I created them myself! As I have been swimming around in Mommy's tummy, my hands have been moving through the amniotic fluid which has formed all these unique little ridges on my fingers. That is why no two people (including identical twins) have the same fingerprints. Pretty neat, huh?
I'm starting to practice and control my voluntary muscle movements. I am also about 3.5 inches long from crown to rump and weigh about an ounce. In other words, I'm about the size of your favorite flip cell phone.
Mommy's next appointment is next Tuesday, June 16. She'll get to hear my heartbeat again, a little stronger and louder this time, and hopefully easier to find. :) She'll probably hear info about testing options they will offer to her, and they will review her blood sugars. All the basic stuff. She'll probably get more details on her diabetes and how soon she'll have to start going more frequently than once a month.
