36 Weeks

One more week and I am considered "full term." Mommy is warning me that when that day arrives she will start giving me the "eviction speech"--you know, the one where she tells me that any time now I can come out and join the party because she's tired of carrying me around in there.

I will be putting on about a half pound of weight a week, or about 1 ounce a day. All this extra fat I'm packing on will help me to regulate my body temperature when I come out. I am able to see, hear, touch, and taste in here. I am having definite waking and sleeping times, of course Mommy already knew that. I open my eyes while I'm awake and close them when I sleep. Just practicing up for my time on the outside. I'm now approximately 18 1/2 inches long and about 6 pounds.

Mommy and Daddy had better get a move on around here or they are not going to be ready for me to arrive. There are still an awful lot of loose ends to tie up around here, like packing our bags for the hospital (might want to get that done since I could come at any time now), getting the car seat ready, putting this place back into some semblance of an order after our flooding disaster, finishing my room, and the list goes on and on and on. Mommy is wondering if she will ever be ready for me to get here. Believe, her body is ready, but she's not feeling prepared yet.

More appointments this week. Our Tuesday appointment will involve the usual ultrasound, NST, and exam, along with a special Group B Strep test. Diabetic appointment on Tuesday also, and another NST and exam on Friday. Next Tuesday they will be measuring my size to see if I'm going to be a big boy or a little guy, and be able to plan my birth accordingly. Mommy is hoping for me to be little like my sister was.

  1. Baby Boy Ihle,
It was so neat to see you on the ultrasound. I know your Mommy is hoping for an early eviction notice for you but we all hope that all goes well and you are a healthy baby. Can't wait to hear your name and meet you face to face.
    Love,
    Granddaddy Y.

  2. Baby Boy Ihle,
A maximum of two weeks in that cozy little space and we will get to see you for real. You are a very cute boy even on ultrasound, so I am sure you will be adorable when you come into the real world. Your mommy has taken good care of you and her just as she did with your big sister. I love you and can't wait to see you.
    Love,
    Granddaddy Y.
