I am 19 weeks old now, I weigh about 8 1/3 ounces (half a pound) and I'm about 6 inches long from head to rump. Now that the majority of my organs and parts are developed, this week is when I start fattening myself up. My body is covered in vernix which is the yogurt-like white coating that covers my skin to protect it in all this fluid. I'm also covered in a thin, fuzzy layer of lanugo hair. Most of it will fall off before I am born. My kidneys are fully functioning and producing urine now too.
Next week is the halfway point, and also the week Mommy and Daddy get to go have the much-awaited ultrasound. If I am in a good mood and willing to cooperate, maybe I'll give them the opportunity to see if I'm a boy or a girl.
