We're in the home stretch now, with only 9 more weeks to go!
The big news this week is that most of my energy is being pored into my brain development. It's starting to wrinkle and develop folds and I'm getting smarter by the minute.
My fingernails and toenails are now fully developed. I know, really exciting stuff this week. One big thing is my red blood cells are entirely made by my bone marrow now, which is actually a pretty big development.
I'm starting to shed my lanugo, which is the fuzzy white hair that covered my body until now. Now that my brain is able to regulate my body temperature, I don't need the hair to keep me warm anymore.
Now when I'm awake, my eyes are wide open and I spend my time looking around the darkness. One day soon I will be squinting those eyes trying not to look at the bright lights above me.
I am about 15 1/2 inches long this week and about 3 pounds. Doesn't seem like much, but I'm definitely getting noticeable in Mommy's belly. Last night I kept Mommy up for about an hour before she could go to sleep because I was kicking up a storm. I also woke her up this morning with lots of kicking. I've been making lots of hearburn for her too, which she really appreciates.
Mommy and Daddy are frantically spending these last 9 weeks trying to get our house in order and making final decisions on how to figure our budget so we can possibly allow Mommy to stay home with Amelia and me. With the exorbitant cost of daycare and extra diapers, it would take up nearly all of Mommy's paycheck, and Mommy is starting to feel really bad about the fact that she is having other people raise her kids while she works for daycare money. Hopefully they can figure something out in the budget so it will work. I'd like my mommy to be home too, because I will need lots of attention.
